Exposure Therapy
Test Shoot / Pilot Presentation
-
"Exposure therapy is a technique in behavior therapy intended to treat anxiety disorders. It involves the exposure of the patient to the feared object in order to overcome their anxiety. Procedurally it is similar to the fear extinction paradigm in rodent work."
Characters:
DOUGLAS SMITH, a television actor suffering from a generalized phobic disorder.
BREA BRUMELS, Doug’s best friend, a travel / adventure / cryptozoology reality TV producer.
DAVID RAZOWSKY, a preeminent therapist with a degree from Santa Monica’s University of Spiritual Psychology, and some of his own, unresolved anger issues.
Synopsis: When traditional talk-therapy in an office setting fails, Brea, David, and Doug set off to explore mysterious and frightening phenomena around the world in an effort to cure Doug through a controversial anxiety and phobia treatment called Exposure Therapy. Brea films their experience to pitch a docu-reality show that merges two previously unmerged viewer demographics: fans of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm and NBC's Fear Factor.
